Welcome to CrossFit 541. CrossFit 541 is a part of Empire Athletics which is an intimate training facility located in the northeast side of Bend, Oregon just off of Empire and 18th St. CrossFit 541 is more than just a part of Empire Athletics, it’s the engine that drives Empire Athletics. Whether you are in a CrossFit class, a Fundamentals Class, or getting personal training, CrossFit is the methodology that serves as our foundation.

What is CrossFit? Well in a 100 words its: “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports. ” (Courtesy of CrossFit, Inc.) For a more in depth idea, read this CrossFit.com article

Here is some of what our clients think…
Nancy Van der Zwiep – When I initially started at CrossFit 541, my goal was pretty simple, get active and maybe lose a little weight. Having turned 40 that year, and not having set foot in a gym for 20 years, I was a little nervous. For the first two months I found myself going through a slight panic attack just pulling into the parking lot; fearing the daily WOD. The fear finally went away in great part due to the motivating and inspirational men and women I’ve met there and I don’t just mean the trainers! At first I was a bit surprised by the genuine encouragement I received from those around me moving through a workout. That’s when I realized we were in it together. The trainers are knowledgeable and patient. They take the time to offer modifications and instruction with an emphasis on correct form with each skill.
Six months later, I feel that I have already achieved my initial goal. Just being around people who are striving for a healthier lifestyle is a great motivator. Though I’ve only found the time to make it to mostly 3 workouts a week, I am impressed at how much stronger I feel, yet still very humble knowing I can do better. I like the mixture of strength training and cardio that CrossFit 541 offers. There’s no boredom doing the same routine each day or every other.

Ayla Ballis – I started my journey in CrossFit at another CrossFit in Bend, but Empire is where I fell in love and became addicted with crossfit. The coaches and other crossfitters make you feel so welcomed. They believe so much in me, that it makes it hard for me not to believe in myself. Now, almost 7 months later, I don’t know what I would do if I could not have crossfit as a daily part of my life. I have never been this fit in my life. I am doing things I could not image. I am training to run a 10K, craziness!!! Never thought I would ever be a runner. I can front squat 135lbs, nuts!!! I never lifted weights before. I have done many workout routines, but always got bored with them. Crossfit is not like that. It pushes every time to the point where I want to quit, but then you finish and its like, I just did that. And then everyone around you is cheering you on and telling you how amazing you did. It is just a great feeling. Crossfit truly has changed my life!
